Last week saw a hotly contested football tournament play out. No, we’re not talking about The World Cup. We’re talking about the moment The Belham Girls’ Football Team faced off against Julian’s of Streatham in the cup final. Fully deserving of their place in the final, their incredible teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship have been a joy to watch all season.
Captained brilliantly by Maddie in Year 6, the girls were joined by a sea of enthusiastic Belham supporters cheering them on from the sidelines. While it wasn't the result the girls hoped for - losing the match 1-0 at the final whistle - they played with immense heart and should be extremely proud of themselves.
Believing firmly that some of the greatest life skills can be learnt through sports, it was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our pupils’ amazing talents outside the classroom. With the team represented by girls from Years 3-6, it showed the depth of talent that runs across the school. As we begin looking ahead to next year’s tournament, the future is looking bright!
