Being a Leader at The Belham

We inspire every child to be ambitious in their learning, creative in their thinking, and kind in their actions — values that guide how they learn, lead, and look after one another.

Nurturing Confident Leaders

Children are encouraged to grow as individuals, follow their passions, and take pride in contributing to school life. As they move up through The Belham, they take on meaningful roles that build confidence and responsibility — as House Captains, Play Leaders, Sports Leaders, Librarians, Peer Mentors, and members of our Green Team.

Pupil voice matters here. Every child is given the chance to lead, share ideas, and make a difference — helping to shape a school where ambition, creativity and kindness shine through in everything we do.

Opportunities for children to lead at the Belham

House Captains

Our House Captains lead by example, representing their Houses in competitions, assemblies, and events. They help to build a strong sense of belonging across the school and encourage every student to take pride in their achievements.

Play Leaders

Play Leaders make break and lunchtime fun, safe, and inclusive. They organise games, help younger students to join in, and promote positive friendships across the playground.

Sports Leaders

Sports Leaders support PE lessons and school sports events, helping to set up equipment, guide teams, and encourage fair play. They are role models for teamwork, perseverance, and enthusiasm.

Librarians

Our student Librarians keep the library running smoothly and inspire a love of reading. They recommend books, help classmates find what they need, and promote reading for pleasure across the school.

Peer Mentors

Peer Mentors offer a friendly ear and a helping hand to others. They help new students settle in, support classmates who need someone to talk to, and promote kindness and respect in all areas of school life.

Green Team

The Green Team leads our work on sustainability. They raise awareness about recycling, energy saving, and protecting our environment, encouraging everyone to make small changes that make a big difference.
