Arriving atthe Museum
Our Museumopens at 10am. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your first booked slot.Lateness may result in your workshop or booked slots being shortened due to ourbusy timetable.
Uponarrival, make your way to the Museum entrance and wait by the schools sign. Wewill greet you, show you your coat and bag storage and deliver a briefing about your day and our facilities.
So the dayruns smoothly, we prioritise schools with early workshops; some groups may havea short wait.

You can visit thefree areas of our Museum and Gardens before and after your booked slots: World Gallery and All Eyes on Her Egypt display, Music Gallery, Natural History Pop Up (to July ‘26), Animal Walk (from 12.30pm), Sound Gardenand Nature Trail.
Parts of our newphotography exhibition, 'Meeting Mohini' explore complex themes, and topicalissues such as grief, and discrimination; we strongly recommend reading our teacher guidance before your visit.
OurNatural History Gallery is closed for an exciting redevelopment and will reopenin early 2027. Ournew Kusuma Nature Play Area opened in May 2026. This is a free drop-in playarea at the bottom of the Gardens. If you would like to visit, please ensureall learners show care and respect towards other visitors using the space. Youmay need to leave and return later if the area is busy, especially around lunchtime.
Please note that hot drinks and food cannot be taken into theMuseum or our learning spaces.
Lunchrooms
Our lunchrooms are used by lots ofgroups, so there is little flexibility with times. If the weather is fine, youcan picnic in our beautiful Gardens at a time that suits you. Groups should notuse the café for picnicking. Groups can use the long wooden tables next to theKusuma Nature Play Area.
Please be respectful of our planet, cleaningteam and groups using the space after you: encourage your groups to use ourrecycling bins, leave the space clean and tidy, and finish your lunch slotpromptly. We have water bottle refill stations around the site.
