Independent reading is set weekly. Reading records are collected on a Monday for review.

In Year 6 Spring, children continue to develop the four purposes of writing – to entertain, inform, persuade and discuss. They write to persuade by delivering speeches and creating campaigns that encourage others to take action, using clear viewpoints, emotive language and persuasive techniques to raise awareness and influence thinking. They write to discuss by exploring complex moral questions through balanced arguments that consider different viewpoints, and by writing reviews that reflect on impact, themes and strengths while suggesting improvements.

Screen Printing and typography: creating protest posters - using colour for purpose and to express feeling, building up drawings and images of whole parts of items Natural pigments: exploring the use of texture in colour with sustainable dyes and pigments.

Creating Islamic-inspired clay tiles - comparing different styles and approaches (eg. Moore and Aztec, etc), developing awareness of form, shape and space in the world around them, identifying the main feature and practicing motifs in the Kashan style, recognises sculptural forms in the environment: furniture, buildings, etc. and designing and creating a clay tile to form a tessellating display of tiles.

3D modelling: use Tinkercad to make changes to 3D models, rotate and adapt 3D models, make holes, plan 3D models, make a 3D model

Football: Aim to restrict space attacker have to play in, apply speed and accuracy to a penalty shot, play the role of covering defender, use foot placement to send and receive the ball at speed.

Hockey: Perform a long corner routine as part of a team, identify players that need to be marked, use the self-pass to restart after a foul or the ball has gone out of play.

Netball: Introduce the double bounce rule, play in a game utilising the marking the ball skill, play in an attacking game supporting GS and GA, attempt rebounds as both attacker and defender in practices and competitive games.

Gymnastics: Take weight on both hands to land on high apparatus from flight, dismounting from various heights, organise equipment in small groups to create a flight sequence, refine individual aspects of sequence including jumps, starting and finishing position.
