My child has symptoms of Covid-19. Can they come to school?
Children with mild symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat, or slight cough, who are otherwise well, can continue to come to school.
Children who are unwell and have a high temperature should not come to school, and should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can return to school when they no longer have a high temperature and they are well enough to attend. There is no requirement for children to take a Covid-19 test to confirm infection.
The official list of Covid-19 symptoms has been updated by the UK Government to include the following:
My child has tested positive for Covid-19. When can they return to school?
Children with a positive Covid-19 test result should not come to school. They should avoid contact with other people for 3 full days starting the day after the date of their positive test, which is when they are most infectious.
Your child can come back to school after 3 days as long as they do not have a high temperature and they are well enough to attend.
My child does not have symptoms of Covid-19 but their sibling has tested positive. Can my child come to school?
Yes, as long as your child is not displaying symptoms they are not required to self-isolate and should continue to come to school.
Will staff and children wear masks? Are parents expected to wear masks when visiting?
In accordance with government guidance, primary school children should not wear masks or face coverings in school. Staff and visitors can wear masks in communal areas if they choose, and staff may wear a mask in the event of a child becoming ill or requiring close contact first aid.
What hygiene measures are in place to reduce the risk of transmission of Covid-19?
Will my child be provided with remote learning if they cannot come to school?
We will provide remote learning for any pupil who is absent because they have tested positive for Covid-19, but who is well enough to complete school work.
We are not able to provide home learning for pupils absent from school for any other reason.
My child is self-isolating and does not have access to a device to complete their home learning, can you help?
Please contact the school office. We may be able to assist by loaning a school device.
Who can I speak to if my child has misplaced their online learning passwords?
Password reminders should be directed to the school office.
My child is self-isolating and needs to print their work, can the school help?
If your child is isolating but the rest of the family are not, please contact the school office. Staff will be happy to print work for you to collect.
If you have read through the above and have a question that has not been answered, please contact the school office for advice.
Parents are also able to call the Department for Education's incident support helpline with any queries relating to Covid-19 and educational settings. The number is 0800 046 8687 and lines are open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm.

What hygiene measures are in place to reduce the risk of transmission of Covid-19?
- Frequent handwashing is encouraged, including on arrival at school and on departure
- Hand sanitiser units are in entrances and corridors, and hand sanitiser pumps in classrooms
- Each classroom is stocked with tissues, anti-viral wipes, cloth and spray
- Minimal sharing of resources; if this cannot be avoided (e.g. iPads, laptops) items will be cleaned before use by another group
- Staff actively promote good hygiene measures such as using and binning tissues in lidded bins and coughing into elbows
- Doors and windows are left open where safe to do so, to limit use of door handles and increase ventilation
- Enhanced cleaning takes place at the end of every day
